Sherwin-Williams 2019 Colour of the Year
/This blog discusses trends from 2019. While it may no longer reflect current styles, it offers insight into past colour trends.
What are the winning hues for 2019?
Warm earthy hues are coming back in style for 2019. Cavern Clay SW 7701 is their colour of the year for 2019 and what a gorgeous colour it is. This would be a fabulous colour for a living room, dining room or even a bedroom!
It’s called Cavern Clay
Cavern Clay is "a warm terracotta color with ancient, elemental roots...a nod to mid-century modern style, but with the soul of the American Southwest," the paint company's press release states. Sue Wadden, Director of Colour Marketing for Sherwin-Williams even goes as far as to say that the company believes 2019 will be a "renaissance of the 1970s."
Cavern Clay screams carefree and simple, yet sophisticated. This colour goes well with everything from leather, wood grains, and balanced neutrals to brighter tiles, blues, greens, and whites. It's very versatile, cozy, and sophisticated no matter what furniture and decor it complements.
Cavern Clay pairs well with other casual, balanced neutrals such as a warm gray or deep brown. Combined with Moth Wing SW 9174 or Dark Clove SW 9183 Cavern Clay evokes a carefree yet sophisticated aesthetic. Alternatively, consider a refreshed version of the popular ‘70s earth tone combinations by pairing Cavern Clay with a dusty denim blue, such as Distance SW 6243 or a soft shade of green like Haven SW 6437. Even when paired with an Origami White SW 7636, Cavern Clay is decidedly fresh.
